An idea for those who want to break with the supporting/rhythm section role of the bass guitar (albeit occasionally) to play alone, or play chordal and melodic songs This is quite easy to learn (particular on a 5 string)
“The Old Country” by Nat Adderley and Curtis Lewis. Very easy solo bass rendition. Besides the simple and low key arrangement, it is made even easier using a custom made instrument specifically designed for this type of chord-melody playing. Bass by Andrew drake. http://www.drakecustombass.com/gallery/diaz-custom-5/
Just the 16 bar melody/theme played twice. Performed by Daniel Diaz in Paris, December 6th 2016.
Comments appreciated/Cheers/DD
New track, a very nice collaboration with WÜST (https://wstmusic1.bandcamp.com/) Paris/Berlin, December 2016. Great experience.

Romeo & Juliette “Love Theme” originally titled “What Is a Youth?” (re-titled “A Time For Us” for a later hit-single version by Henri Mancini in 1969)
From Franco Zeffirelli’s Romeo and Juliet score, composed by Nino Rota
One of the most classic and memorable romantic themes of any film, naive but beautiful. I play just the A section and something not in the original as a short B-section, also an intro and coda from another version. The original has a longer verse/B section.
Practising solo bass for my upcoming Low Vol2 project, this is one track I won’t record (I choose another from the same composer instead of this), but realized how easy it is to play a simple solo/chordal arrangement when you have an instrument specially build for that. Thanks Drake Custom Bass and Guitar. Solo 5 string electric bass, tuned EADGC.
Very easy to play alone in any 5 string bass guitar.
Recorded Friday December 2nd 2016 at home in Paris.

“Minimalist Steel Drums“ SCDV 603
30 tracks composed and performed by Daniel Diaz

For that purpose I recorded several short snippets with each and every instrument I own and play, performed solo or accompanied by other instruments, but one instrument at the time clearly in the spotlight.

This year 2016 I’m creating a “catalogue” of my instruments and sonic possibilities as a multi-instrumentalist. For that purpose I’ll record several short snippets (I guess there’ll be 50 in total) with each and every instrument I own and play, performed solo or accompanied by other instruments, but one instrument at the time clearly in the spotlight.
I’ll be adding these snapshots one by one to a dedicated Soundcloud playlist here
I’m taking pictures of the actual instrument(s) when possible (there’ll be a couple of snapshots using my favourite samples, the rest is actual instruments I own).
50 Snapshots should be completed in 50 days or 50 weeks, I can’t really tell. You can get an announce from Soundcloud each time I add a new snapshot if you follow that list, I won’t bother you again by email.
